Did you know that 1 out of every 8 women will likely develop breast cancer? With the new 3D technology we are able to detect 20-65% more invasive breast cancers compared to 2D alone.
3D mammography, or digital breast tomosynthesis, can be a particular advantage for women with dense breast tissue. 3D mammography is able to detect small cancers that could be obscured by dense breast tissue on 2D mammography.
Screening mammography should begin at the age of 40, unless you have a strong family history of breast cancer in which case early screening may be recommended. Screening mammograms are performed to look for signs of breast cancer in women who don’t have any problems. Yearly mammograms can often detect breast cancer early, before a lump can be felt.
